25. We’re Walking in Sunshine

Sunday has been a gloriously sunshine-filled day. Suddenly no need for jackets and we have been sweltering as we pop into a few shops. Go figure. From one extreme to the other. But we will take it.

We are loving London and its hustle and bustle. I forgot just how crowded it gets on the streets trying to walk. We are in a nice area to go for a stroll. Once you get off the beaten path there are some nice apartments and homes all around us. We hope to do more walking in the neighborhoods of Chelsea and Kensington.

Today we passed by The Kensington Hotel. This is not where we are staying. Oh, the floral arrangement outside the hotel is simply stunning.

This morning’s walk was to try and orient ourselves to where exactly we are situated. We hiked out to Hyde Park which was probably an hour long walk and then through the park itself. It is so big and covers so much ground. I think in the past I had only been through a little portion of the park itself. It seems we must have missed the cherry blossom season as there wasn’t anything blooming in Hyde Park. We did walk down to a nice area where they have rowing boats for tourists to rent and swans in the big ponds.

It also turns out we are not that far from all of the big shops and department stores so it wouldn’t be a trip to London without a stop in Harrod’s. There are so many tiny restaurants and bake shops and little cafes to stop at on your way somewhere. Such a different vibe to where we are from. It also seems that London has blocked off a fair number of streets now and turned them into pedestrian-only zones with no cars. That seems different from the last time we were here and is a great addition to a fabulous city.

Horses add to the delight of walking through Hyde Park.
Runners, walkers, cyclists, strollers, everyone enjoying the sunshine!
